Standard New Kitchen Cabinet Sizes

Wall Cabinet Size
Wall kitchen cabinets are most commonly 12 inches deep. The height for standard wall cabinets is 30 inches with other common heights being 18 inches, 15 inches, and 12 inches. 24 and 40 inch heights are increasing in popularity with staggered wall cabinet heights. The width of typical standard kitchen wall cabinets ranges from 9" to 48" in 3 inch increments.

Kitchen Base Cabinet Size
Base cabinets are typically 24 inches deep with a height of 34 1/2 inches often stated as 36 inches which includes the counter top height. Standard kitchen base cabinet width ranges from 9 inches to 48 inches in 3 inch increments.

Drawer Base Cabinet Size
Standard drawer base cabinets for kitchens often range from a width of 12 inches and may extend to 24 inches wide.
(12, 15, 18, 21, and 24 inches)

Sink Base Cabinet Size
Standard kitchen sink cabinet widths are 30, 33, and 36 inches.

Pantry Cabinet Size
Pantry cabinets are most often at 84 inch heights. A 94 1/2 inch height is another popular size going from floor to ceiling. 18, 24, and 30 inches are common pantry cabinet widths. We tend to think 18 inches is a bit on the small side for a pantry cabinet and like to increase the width of our pantry cabinet sizes to 24, 30, and 36 inches.

Custom Cabinets Makers
Custom cabinet makers will build new cabinets to your specifications. This may eliminate having to include a wide filler board if the standard cabinet sizes do not fit into your kitchens setting.

JosephYou have some excellent ideas for kitchens. That has been one of the recurring themes in my own life--looking for a way to make our bathrooms and our kitchen look really glorious, even though those rooms are much too small. One of the glories of the Internet, though, is that there is absolutely no dearth of ideas. Right now I have no idea of what I will ultimately do, but I keep hoping I will come up with something really slick.

best toaster ovenI wish that I had installed full height wall units which go to the ceiling because I think they look nice but also that's an awful lot more storage space which can be used.

maggieAnyone have any tips on installing a wall cabinet as a base cabinet? It would but against an angle base; the depth of the wall cabinet fits the base and does not interfere with the base door. Given the height of the base, I think I need to use a 30" height wall cabinet with legs.

Any tips appreciated!!

Hi Maggie

Neat idea if the wall cabinet can fit your home setting and the doors blend with the surrounding cabinets. If your base cabinet height is the common 34 1/2 inches your legs will need to be 4 1/2 inches tall if you are topping the 30 inch tall wall cabinet with a countertop.
