Decks Question Geared Toward Deck Builders
How Much Does It Cost to Build a New Deck

About how much for a deck?
Im thinking of covering a flat slab patio i have in the back of my house with a wooden deck
It measures about 34' x 15'
Its fairly level and like I said, theres slab beneath most of the deck.
Any idea - ballpark what im looking at in material costs? Also, wonder what a tradesmen might charge to just do it me?

:)
Million Dollar Question! :-)
Deck Pricing Depends on individual factors, timing of your project and the schedule demands of the contractor, the quality level you expect, the Service (How quickly and professionally the deck building process goes, and many many other similar questions.

:!: RemodelingEstimates.com gives free online estimates.

 I have seen similiar all treated decks estimates start at around $3500. $1500 - $2000ish materials. This Pricing would be with good smaller contractors who are fast, and also with poor builders.

8-) Deck Estimates often range from $5100 - $7500 if all treated and basic. Broken up decks with composite materials is a whole new ball game. Then the quotes go by materials and extra is added for estimated labor versus square foot and stairs, railings, princing.

Deck Pricing is reflective on Gas Pricing.

Currently the going rate is 10,000 a square foot and rising

Get your deck today!

As the deck builders all drop out of existance due the rising gasonline pricing a monopoly of deck builders will occur. It will not be long and smaller deck builders will be dropping like flies in a room sprayed with Raid.

Build your deck yourself.
Go to a home improvement store and buy a book. Then spend two years working on it in the evenings until a friend of yours feels sorry for you and has a builder friend come over and give you a hand. It worked for me!

I have helped out a few friends of mine with building them decks like that :!:

This had better not be a public scam the builders idea or I'm gonna wring someone's neck :!: Us builders feeling sorry for people and helping em out cause big bill says screw the contractor. I don't think so!

I'm think I am going back to pricing my decks from the charts and from the remodeling estimator books.

You aren't so bad bill - sorry - you tried and were just making light of the fact. I should get some sleep for jumping to such hasty jumping to conclusions. Your comments were taken out of proportion by myself. Sorry. :(
